Dhow Trip to Musandam [Video]

Dhow Trip To Musandam

Here is a video created by one of our guests Pablo Novoa on a dhow trip to Musandam earlier this year. The video includes clips from 5 different dives that we had.

The Musandam peninsula is an exclave of Oman. This means that it is geographically separated from the rest of Oman, sharing a border with UAE on the South and the West, the Strait of Hormuz on the North, and the Gulf of Oman on the East. It is a picturesque region offering both spectacular sea and mountain views. Wildlife is abundant in the waters along the coast making scuba diving one of the main and most popular tourist activities in this region. The geography of the location makes diving accessible for scuba divers of all levels. The visibility, as you can see in the video, is generally clear.

For those who don’t know, a Dhow is a traditional wooden boat that was used for travel and cargo. Today, it is one of the major tourist attractions in the gulf with fascinatingly lit dhow cruises that include dinner, music and dance shows. In Musandam, Dolphin watching on a traditional Dhow is a must-see experience. The dolphins respond to the sound of the Dhow captains’ whistles, and come soaring along side the Dhow, putting on a show that you will never forget. They are incredibly agile and love to perform.
